Redcar and Cleveland Libraries have a blood pressure monitor available for a couple of weeks in each branch. Check the timetable for it coming to a library near you! See the details attached and below.
It is important to keep an eye on our blood pressure so that we can make changes.
High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but if left unmanaged, it can increase your risk of serious health problems, including heart disease, stroke, heart failure, kidney disease, vision loss and vascular dementia.
The only way to know if you have high blood pressure is to get it checked.
From 2 November 2026, a blood pressure monitor will be available in our libraries for around two weeks in each branch, giving residents aged 18 and over the opportunity to check and record their blood pressure numbers.
Please read the schedule below to find out when the blood pressure monitor will be in your local library.
Redcar Library: from 2 November until 18 November
Laburnum Library: from 18 November until 2 December
Marske Library: from 2 December until 16 December
Saltburn Library: from 16 December until 7 January
Loftus Library: from 7 January until 19 January
Skelton Library: from 19 January until 3 February
Guisborough Library: from 3 February until 16 February
Ormesby Library: from 16 February until 3 March
South Bank Library: from 3 March until 16 March
Cabinet Member for Health, Welfare and Housing Support, Cllr Ursula Earl, said:" A quick check can help identify potential problems early and give people the information they need to take action if required. I would encourage everyone aged 18 and over to take advantage of this opportunity when the monitor visits their local library.”
