Dear Parents/Carers,
In a week of national significance, I am pleased to see that children are continuing to let their lights shine in all aspects of school life. Today Y5 and Year 6 boys are in a football competition and we hope this is the first of many such events.

Packed Lunches
Every day that I am in St Joseph’s I try and make sure that I help in the lunch hall. As A Healthy School, we aim to promote healthy eating. Please don’t send sweets or too many treats in the packed lunch box. We still have children attending the school with nut allergies so don’t send anything that has nuts in please.
Volunteers
In previous years, our School has benefitted greatly from a super set of parent and family volunteers who have helped our pupils develop a wide range of skills. We would like to ask if any members of our community would like to volunteer some of their time to support us with areas such as: listening to children read, helping with any art and craft skills, such as model making and sewing. If you would be interested in volunteering to help our pupils be the best that they can be, then please get in touch with the school office. Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Children with Medical Needs:
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be updating our records for children with additional medical needs in our school. Please get in touch with the school if your child has additional medical needs that may not be aware of. Every child with additional medical needs requires a Medical care Plan form to be completed. Thank you in anticipation of your help with this matter.
As some of you may be aware we have a child in the school (Isaac Y4) who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia which is a type of cancer. Isaac is undergoing a series of treatments and will be for some time and the good news is that he has responded really well.
However, many of the treatments used will affect the immune system. Measles, Shingles and Chicken Pox can be life threatening to a child receiving treatment so it is essential that his parents are made aware of any suspected cases of any of these, in anyone who comes into school. I have also been made aware that mouth cold sores can also cause serious issues.
It is therefore essential that the school is made aware of any of these illnesses straight away so that we can inform his parents.
I know you will understand how important this is and will give it your full support.

Newsletter 9th September 2022 FINAL
Dear Parents/Carers,
Christ be our Light, in life, in love and in learning
What a very busy week it has been here at St Joseph’s as we come to the end of our first full week back at school this term.
I would like to start by saying how delighted we have all been with the start that the children have made. They have already shown great determination to succeed and an eagerness to learn in lessons.
We have revisited our Mission Statement ‘Christ be our Light, in life, in love and in learning’ and how we can be guiding lights for the children in our care. We thought about how we can help the children using the acronym ‘light’ and discussed love, inspire, greatness, happy, teaching. We will not let our lights be dimmed and we strive to only make the school better for all the children in our care. Together let us guide the children to achieve their full potential.
Thank you for your continued support of the school. Please now take the time to check through the following reminders.

We are thrilled that swimming sessions are restarting next week for the Y3 class. A separate letter has been sent out to the children involved.

Medical Reminder:
Please can all families be vigilant when notifying the school if your child contracts measles, chicken pox or shingles. This is very important so we can advise parents any appropriate actions can then be taken.

Final thoughts:
With the news in the last 24 hours there is only one place to turn.
We leave you with some words spoken by our beloved Queen:
“For me, the life of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, is an
inspiration and an anchor in my life. A role model of reconciliation and forgiveness,
he stretched out his hands in love, acceptance and healing.
Christ’s example has taught me to seek respect and value all people of whatever faith or non”
